I was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I spent my youthful days exploring creeks, building homes for backyard critters, and handstanding all over the place. Most of my childhood was spent in competitive gymnastics, but thanks to arts education in our public schools, I fell for theater pretty quickly.
I went against the Midwestern form and went far away for school at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. (For theater, no less, as an extra shock to my dyed-in-the-wool Oklahomies.) School has deepened and expanded my passions. My discoveries have led me to a particular love for theater with a purpose. Any theater we are doing is important, but neglecting the why is a disservice to the powerful art form. Media is being consumed at a never before seen rate - the messages this media presents matters.
Catch me seeking out new works, staying up into the wee hours analyzing the impact a well-made movie had on me, and still attempting to handstand all over the place.
